Redmi Note 8 Pro Price in India, Release Date and Full Specs

Redmi Note 8 series launches in China on Thursday. Soon after the China launch Xiaomi India MD Manu Jain confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro India launch will take time, as long as two months, he said. It is likely the Redmi Note 8 series will come to India post Diwali. It is expected that the China model of the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro will make it to India. This means expect Redmi Note 8 India model to come with Snapdragon 665 SoC and Redmi Note 8 Pro with MediaTek Helio G90T processor.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is a much-upgraded version of the Redmi Note 8 in almost every aspect possible. Be it screen, hardware, cameras, battery, or any other.
The Redmi Note 8 has a gradient design and comes with minor upgrades over its predecessor, like a slightly powerful processor, four rear cameras, slimmer bezels, audio improvements, and more. The Redmi Note 8 Pro, on the other hand, packs a redesigned body with significant upgrades in the hardware over the Redmi Note 7 Pro, including the presence of a 64-megapixel rear camera, as a part of the quad camera setup.

Storage: 64GB and 128GB
Rear camera: The Redmi Note 8 Pro also comes with quad cameras on the rear panel. It includes primary 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor with f/1.7 aperture that is capable of clicking big 9248×6936 images, 2MP depth sensor, 8MP Ultra Wide lens, and 2MP macro lens.
Front camera: On the front the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with 20MP selfie shooter.
Battery: The Redmi Note 8 Pro is backed by a 4500mAh battery that comes with support for 18W fast charging.

  • The Redmi Note 8 is the world’s first MediaTek Helio G90T chipset powered smartphone. In India too the phone is said to come with the MediaTek chipset. The Redmi Note 8 uses Snapdragon 665 processor.
  • Both the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front as well as on the back panel similar to the Redmi Note 7 series of phones.
  • Both the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro sport premium design with 3D curved glass. For their respective price the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 look stunning. Both the phones come in three colours.
  • Both the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro come with quad camera setup on the back panel and single on the front.
  • Both the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro include Dot drop notch on the front that equips the selfie camera. The Redmi Note 8 comes with 13MP selfie shooter while the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with 20MP selfie shooter.

Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro Launch and Price in India

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro in China. Now, it comes as no surprise that both the phones will be making their way to India. Soon after the China launch event, Xiaomi’s India head Manu Kumar Jain stated that the phones will launch in India soon. Jain took to Twitter to note that the phones need to undergo testing and certification before they can be launched in the country. He gave a rough timeline of eight weeks, suggesting a near two-month wait. To recall, the Redmi Note 7 Pro was launched in India first, and was then launched in China a few weeks later.

Jain took to Twitter to announce that Xiaomi will bring the phones to India soon. “We’ll do our best to bring them to India asap! However, certification [and] testing might take (approximately) 8 weeks. Will keep you posted,” his tweet reads, he then adds, “8 weeks for #RedmiNote8!”. An earlier tweet had given vaguer timeline of “soon.” In China, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is set to go on sale on September 3, while the first sale for Redmi Note 8 will take place on September 17. The predecessor Redmi Note 7 was launched in China in January, but its Pro variant was launched in India first. The Redmi Note 7 Pro was launched in China a few weeks later. The company hasn’t followed the same tradition this time around.

Nevertheless, the phones’ prices in India should be similar to its China pricing, barring the tax and government duties imposed. To recall, the Redmi Note 8 price has been set at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,000) for the base 4GB + 64GB model, CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 12,000) for the 6GB + 64GB and CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,000) for the 6GB + 128GB variants. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will retail at CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,000), CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,000) and CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,000) for the 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB models respectively.
